White Haven, Pa. (Apr. 27, 2019) - Alvernia University Women's Golf sits in second place with a team score of 330 after the first day of the 2019 MAC Women's Golf Championship, hosted at Mountain Laurel Golf Club.

Stevenson University sits atop the leaderboard after the first day with a team total of 323. Stevenson's Amanda Perez sits in first place with a first-round score of 78.

Senior Emily Gilbert, the two-time defending MAC Champion, sits one stroke off the lead with a 7-over par of 79. Freshman Yupha Muzyka sits one stroke behind Gilbert with a round 80.

Gilbert started her day on the par 4 tenth with a par, but was 6-over the rest of the back nine. She went birdie-birdie to start off her front nine, and shot five pars over the next six holes. She found trouble to close out her round with a double bogey on the par 5 ninth.

Muzyka started her day with a birdie on the par 4 tenth, but went back to even par on the next hole with a bogey. She shot five pars on her next seven holes to finish out the back nine at 2-over. Muzyka didn't score a birdie the rest of the way and was 4-over on the front nine until she also found trouble on her final hole, the par 5 ninth, to finish t-3rd with an 80.

Briana Hocker sits tied for tenth with a first round score of 85. Hocker started out her day 5-over through her first four holes, but played her final five holes of the back nine at even par, including a birdie on the par 5 16th. She also posted a birdie on the par 4 2nd, but was nine over on her final seven holes to finish out at 85.

Jordan Kissner sits one stroke back of Hocker in 12th place with a round of 86. Kissner was even through her first two holes, but went four-over on her next three. She went par-par on 15 and 16, but went bogey-bogey to close out her back nine at 6-over. She had three pars on her final nine holes and was 8-over on the front nine to finish with an 86.

Maggie Arnold is playing as Alvernia's fifth player and finished her day with a 104.
Alvernia will hed out in the second flight of tee times on the first hole tomorrow, beginning with Arnold at 8:36 AM. Gilbert will be the last to go out at 9:12 AM. Alvernia will be playing alongside Eastern University and Stevenson University.
