Men's Golf Finishes Second At Home Invitational

Duffy Records A Hole-In-One On The Par 3 10th

Mohnton, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2021) - Alvernia University finished second overall with a team score of 313 on Tuesday at Alvernia's home invitational, hosted at LedgeRock Golf Club.

The Golden Wolves finished two strokes off of Arcadia University, who took home the team title with a score of 311.

Luke Fagley led the Golden Wolves with a score of 5-over 77. Fagley started his day with a par on the par 4 1st, but went to 1-under with a birdie on the par 3 2nd. After three straight pars, Fagley gave one back with a bogey on the par 4 6th. He pared the par 5 7th but went to 1-over with a bogey on par 5 8th. He pared the par 4 ninth, making the turn at 1-over par.

After going bogey-par on 10 and 11, Fagley sunk a 40 foot putt on the par 4 12th for birdie. He found trouble though on the long par 5 13th, carding a seven. Fagley pared the stretch of 14, 15, and 16, but bogied his final two holes to finish at 5-over 77.

Finishing second for Alvernia and t-5th overall was Jack Lynam with a score of 6-over 78. Lynam started on the par 3 2nd with a double bogey and followed that with a bogey on three before finding rhythm with back-to-back pars on the 4th and 5th. He carded another double on the 6th but went par-birdie-par to finish out his front nine at 5-over. Lynam settled in on the back nine, posting just one bogey with eight pars to finish his day at 6-over with a round of 78.

Finishing in third for Alvernia and also t-5th overall was Jake Duffy with a round of 6-over 78. Duffy started his day on the par 4 3th with a birdie. Duffy also pared the par 5 8th, but finished his front nine at 5-over.

Duffy's back nine started off with a bang as he recorded a hole-in-one on the sharp downhill par 3 10th. Duffy is the fourth golfer to record a hole-in-one since 2009. The rest of Duffy's back nine included five pars and three bogies to finish his round with a 78.

Both Alvernia's Joe Polidoro and Tyler Duffy finished at 8-over 80, with one of those 80s going towards Alvernia's four person total.

Along with Arcadia taking the team total, Arcadia's Arturo Hernandez took home low-medalist with a round of 1-over 73.

Alvernia returns to action this weekend at The Bridges on Saturday and Sunday.
