Reading, Pa. (Feb. 27, 2020) - Alvernia University wrestling opened its 2021 season on Saturday night hosting Delaware Valley University. No team score was kept, but 13 Golden Wolves wrestled for results towards their individual records.

Jason Rezac was one of four Golden Wolves to go 2-0 on the night. Rezac, a first-year competing at 149, pinned Russell Benson in 1:57 in his first bout of the night, and then went on to take down Carter Owen in 20-2 technical fall in 1:48 in his second bout.

First-year Matthew Lackman also came away with two wins on the night, pinning Youseff Ait Boulahri in 49 seconds in his first bout of the night. Lackman then took a 22-3 technical fall over Jake Nase in his second bout.

Sophomore Gavin Hollingsworth was the third Golden Wolf to finish 2-0 on the night. Hollingsworth took a 16-0 technical fall over Zach Zuckerman in his first bout, and took another technical fall 16-0 technical fall in his second bout over Mike Rubino

Sophomore Tonee Ellis was the final Golden Wolf to go 2-0 on evening. Ellis picked up two 9-8 decisions on the night. His first came over Austin Williams and his second came over Isaiah Johnson.

First-year Anthony Portillo picked up a pin in his second bout of the night, with a fall over Carter Owen in 1:34.

Senior Tanner Vogel earned a 14-0 major decision over Zuckerman in his second bout of the night.

First-year Isaac Kassis picked up a 10-2 decision in his only bout of the night with the win coming over Jake Nase.

Junior Palmer Rodenhaber was the final Golden Wolf to pick up a win. Rodenhaber earned an 8-3 decision over Dan Eckley in his only bout of the night.

Alvernia returns to the mat on Tuesday at Stevens Institute of Technology.
