Polidoro Takes Low Medalist Honors At Moravian

Polidoro and Luke Fagley Both Shoot 74s

Bethlehem, Pa. (September 13, 2021) - Graduate Student Joe Polidoro and senior Luke Fagley both fired a 2-over 74 to tie for first place, but Polidoro would take low medalist honors on a match of cards on Monday at Moravian's Weyhill Classic, hosted at Saucon Valley Country Club.

The tie breaker would come down to the back nine score, and Polidoro bettered Fagley by one stroke, with Polidoro recording a 1-over 37 to Fagley's 38 to come away with his first low-medalist honor of his career.

Polidoro started his afternoon off with a par on the par 4 1st, but would bogey the next two. He got into a rhythm and pared the 4th and 5th before recording a birdie on the par 5 6th. He'd give it back with a bogey on 7th, but then recorded his second birdie of the afternoon on the par 4 8th.

Polidoro made the turn at 1-over and pared the first three holes of the back nine. After a bogey on the 13th, Polidoro would record pars the rest of the way to finish his round with a 2-over 74.

Fagley started his round off with four straight pars before a bogey on the par 3 5th. He'd get his stroke back with a birdie on the par 5 6th, but would move back to 1-over par with a bogey on the par 4 8th. Fagley closed out his back nine with a birdie on the par 5 9th to make the turn at even par.

Fagley would slip to 1-over par with a bogey on the 10th before posting six straight pars. A bogey on the par 4 17th would be the difference between Fagley and Polidoro, with Fagley posting a bogey to move to 2-over on the back nine and 2-over overall. He would par the 18th to finish 2-over 74.

Finishing third for Alvernia and 10th overall was Jack Lynam with a 6-over 78. Lynam finished his round with three birdies, including two on the front nine.

Rounding out the counting scores and finishing t-15th overall was first year Zachary Lessley, posting a 9-over 81 in his first collegiate competition. Lessley recorded one birdie on his round - a 3 on the par 4 1st.

Also competing for Alvernia was Jake Duffy who finished t-29th with a 14-over 86.

Gettysburg would take the team title with a score of 302, just five strokes ahead of Alvernia's 307. Three of Gettysburg's counting scores finished t-3rd with rounds of 75.
