Waynesboro, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2022) - Alvernia first year Owen Wisner fired a round of 4-under 68 to set a new Alvernia low round record during the second day of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Sunday at Waynesboro Country Club.  

Wisner finished t-6th overall with a two-day total of 146. Wisner's 68 moved him up the leaderboard by 34 spots on Sunday after sitting t-40th going into the morning.

The previous low round record was 69 and was held by Joe Polidoro (Bent Creek Country Club, 2021) and Nayson Avery (Lebanon Country Club, 2004). 

Wisner started his day on the par 4 5th hole with a par. He birdied the par 4 6th hole and then made three straight pars before making the turn to the 10th hole. Wisner found trouble on the tenth and recorded his only bogey of the round before recovering with a par on the par 4 11th hole. He then birdied the 12th hole before recording four straight pars. Wisner then made a long put on 17 to convert a  birdie before another birdie on 18. He made his turn back the front nine with an uphill four-foot putt for par on the first hole. He then made a 10 foot birdie putt on the par 4 2nd hole before just missing a 15 foot birdie putt on the third hole. Wisner then sunk a short, two-foot putt for par on the 4th hole to mark the end of his record-setting round.

Luke Fagley finished in second for Alvernia and t-19th overall with a two-day total of 149. Fagley shot a 75 on Sunday and finished with 13 pars and a birdie on the par 4 9th hole.

In third for Alvernia and t-34th overall was Jack Lynam with a two-day total of 152. Lynam improved on his Saturday score by two strokes with a Sunday round of 75. He finished with 13 pars - including eight on the back nine - and a birdie on the par 4 6th.

Rounding out Alvernia's counting scores was Dylan Byers with two-day of 155. Byers shot an 81 on Sunday with seven pars and two birdies.

Tyler Cebular played as Alvernia's fifth with a two-day total of 160. He shot an 82 on Sunday with nine pars.

Gettysburg College took first place with a team score of 589 (295-294). Alvernia finished 13 strokes back with a two-day total of 602 (303-299) to finish 7th in a field of 21 teams.

McDaniel's Ryan McGarry took low-medalist with a two-day total of 141 (69-72). 

Wisner's round of 68 was the low-round of the tournament. 

Alvernia is back in action on Wednesday for the first day of the Yocum Cup.
