Reading, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2022) - Alvernia Men's Basketball senior Keon Taylor, and Women's Track and Field first year Elisabeth Schwarz were named Alvernia Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of February 7 - February 13, 2022.

Keon Taylor led Alvernia to a 3-0 week, averaging 21 points and five rebounds a game. On Wednesday, in a double overtime win over LVC, Taylor scored 29 points - including the game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds left in the second overtime - to lead Alvernia. He shot 6-for-10 from 3-point range and added six boards. In a 17 point comeback over Messiah, Taylor scored 28 points, going 10-for-14 from the field. He also added seven rebounds and five assists. Taylor also added six points in 20 minutes of action in a 100-90 win over the University of Valley Forge on Thursday.

Elisabeth Schwarz finished top-five in two events on Saturday at the Susquehanna Invitational, including a first place finish. Schwarz won the 200m dash with a personal-record time of 26.40 seconds, bettering her previous PR by just over a tenth of a second. She also finished fourth in the 60m dash with another personal-record time of 7.93 seconds, bettering her previous PR by .02 seconds. 

Men's Basketball returns to action tomorrow at Widener University. Women's Track and Field's next competition is the 2022 Indoor MAC Championship at Alvernia's PLEX.
