Following his collegiate career at Delaware Valley, Miller began his coaching career at Kutztown High School where he went 14-10 and was a division champion and division three coach of the year. Miller then followed that with a stint at Reading High School where he went 145-31 from 1988-1994. He recorded four straight county championships and had 60 straight wins versus county opponents. His teams also qualified for the state tournament five of the six years under Miller's leadership.
