Boreman Leads Golden Oaks Shootout After Day One

Fleetwood, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2022) - Alvernia University's McKylie Boreman leads the Golden Oaks Shootout after the completion of the first round on Friday at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Boreman matched her career low with a round of 72 to lead the field of 50 athletes by three strokes. She is two strokes ahead of Eastern's Marin Dremock.

The Golden Wolves are two off the lead held by York College. York shot a team score of 313 and Alvernia shot a 315. Alvernia had three athletes shoot sub-80 rounds. In addition to Boreman's 72, Lapinsky shot a 77 and Yupha Muzyka shot a 79.

Boreman started her day on the par 4 10th and was 1-under through six holes with five pars and a birdie on the par 4 12th. Boreman posted a bogey on the par 4 16th before closing out her back nine with back-to-back pars on 17 and 18. Boreman bogeyed her first two holes of the front nine before putting together a flawless final seven holes. Boreman pared five of the seven and had birdies on the par 4 6th and par 3 over-the-water 9th.

Lapinsky's round of 77 puts her in a four-way tie for third place going into the final round on Saturday. Lapinsky started her day with a birdie on the par 5 11th, which would be the first of four birdies on her round. Lapinsky also birdied holes 2, 13, and 17 and had a total of eight pars during her first round.

Finishing two strokes off of Lapinsky and sitting in a three way tie for eight was Muzyka with her round of 79. Muzyka started her day with her first of seven pars on her round with a par on the par 4 10th. After an up and down round, Muzyka finished her day off with back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine.

Finishing in fourth for Alvernia and sitting t-18th overall is Rylee Stenzel with a round of 87.  Stenzel's round was highlighted by eight pars and a birdie on the par 3 4th.

Grace Spielman finished as Alvernia's fifth on the first day with a round of 92.

Boreman will look to maintain her lead through tomorrow while Alvernia will tee off in the chase of York tomorrow.
