Alvernia Finishes in Eighth at Weather-Shortened Denison Invitational

Granville, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2022) - Alvernia University maintained eighth place standing from day one to finish in eighth place overall in a weather shortened final round of the Denison Ted Barclay Invitational on Sunday.

The two-day tournament was slated to be a 36-hole event, but it was cut to 27 holes due to weather with just golfers playing just the front nine on Sunday. The second day of the women's side of the invitational was canceled.

Fagley led Alvernia with a 27-hole total 110 - posting a 1-over 36 on day two - to t-15th overall. Alvernia finished eighth overall with a 27-hole total of 455.

Fagley started his day by scrambling for par on the par 4 1st hole. After his drive landed under a pine tree, he took an unplayable lie and moved back 150 yards. He put that shot eight feet from the hole and converted the par putt. Fagley made par on eight of the nine holes he played Sunday, posting just one bogey on the round.

Owen Wisner also posted a 36 on day two for a two day total of 114 to finish t-38th overall. Wisner was 2-over through five, but posted a birdie on the par 5 6th to move back to 1-over. He pared the final three holes to finish with a 36.

Jack Lynam finished in third for Alvernia and t-42 overall with a 27-hole total of 115. Lynam posted a 38 on Sunday with six pars and three bogeys.

Zach Lessley rounded out Alvernia's counting scores with a two-day total of 116. He birdied the 1st hole, but was 6-over the rest of the way for a 9-hole round of 40 on Sunday.

Dylan Byers played as Alvernia's fifth, also posting a 40 on Sunday for a two-day total of 118. Byers' round was highlighted by a birdie on the par 6th.

Wittenberg University won the tournament with a two-day total of 426, and Wittenburg's Will Birkholtz took low-medalist with a 103.
