Lackman Leads Golden Wolves at MAC Championships

York, Pa (January 21, 2023) - Matthew Lackman took home gold in the 165 pound weight class as Alvernia University had seven wrestlers take home medals at the MAC Championships.

A total of ten Golden Wolves placed within the top six in their respective weight classes.

Kieto Shaw took sixth in the 125 pound weight class, having to medically forfeit in the consolation bout.

Anthony Portillo took home a bronze medal in the 133 pound weight class with a 5-1 victory in the third place bout.

Avery Leonard took home the silver medal in the 141 pound bracket with a 16-6 loss in the finals.

Chance Babb took home third place at 149 pounds after receiving a medical forfeit in the third place match. Brandon Flores also wrestled his way onto the podium at 149 pounds and placed fifth.

Robert Lawlor placed third in the 157 pound weight class and Jason Rezac took home fourth place in the 157 pound bracket as well.

Matt Lackman took home the gold for Alvernia in the 165 pound weight class with a pin in the final at the 6:16 mark.

Isaac Kassis placed second in the 184 pound bracket and fell in the championship by a score of 3-1.

Palmer Rodenhaber grabbed a silver medal in the heavyweight bracket, having to medically forfeit in the championship bout.

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Trinity College for the Trinity College Duals.
