Miksich and Lapinsky Lead Alvernia Through First Day of Battle of Bulle Rock

Havre de Grace, Md. (Oct. 16, 2023) - Through the first round of the two-day Battle at Bulle Rock, Alvernia University sits in second place overall and Cassidy Miksich and Katie Lapinsky sit at one-two atop the leaderboard.

Miksich, who is coming off a first place finish at Gettysburg on Sunday, finished her day with a round of 81. Lapinsky is just one stroke back of Miksich with a round of 82.

Alvernia finished the day with a team score of 346, and sit three strokes back of York. The Spartans are in first place through the first day of competition with a team score of 343.

Miksich was two-over through her first three holes before settling in for three straight pars. After a bogey on the 7th, Miksich got one back with a birdie on the par five 8th hole. After finding trouble on the early holes of the back nine, Miksich settled back in for four pars on her final five holes to finish with a round of 81.

Lapinsky started her day off strong with a birdie on the par four 1st hole. She finished up and down through the rest of the front nine, making the turn at 6-over with three pars. Lapinsky settled in for her back nine, posting par on seven of the nine final holes for the round of 82.

Rylee Stenzel finished in third for Alvernia and t-9th overall with a round of 89. Stenzel finished with six pars - through on each side - to highlight her round.

Grace Spielman finished in fourth for Alvernia and is in t-17th overall with a round of 94. Spielman finished with four pars - including on the 18th.

Paige Damon finished as Alvernia's fifth and is in 25th overall with a round of 100. Her round was highlighted by three pars.

Alvernia closes things out at the Battle of Bulle Rock tomorrow.
