Lapinsky Takes First, Alvernia Second at Battle at Bulle Rock

Havre de Grace, Md. (Oct. 17, 2023) - Katie Lapinsky fired a second day score of 5-over 77 to take low medalist honors and lead Alvernia to a second place team finish following the final day of the Battle at Bulle Rock.

Lapinsky improved her first day score of 82 by five strokes to earn low medalist honors. She edged teammate Cassidy Miksich by four strokes to take first place.

Alvernia finished with a two-day total of 679 (346-333) to take second place in the field of seven. York College took first place by six strokes with a two-day total of 673.

After posting a 4-over through the front nine, Lapinsky settled in well on the back nine. She started the back with a birdie on the par 4 10th hole and followed that with a par on the 11th. She found trouble on the 12th and 13th holes, but settled back in with back-to-back pars. Lapinsky then posted her second birdie of the round on the par 4 16th hole. She finished par-bogey for her 1st place finish and round of 77. Lapinsky finished with a total of 10 pars and two birdies.

Finishing in second for Alvernia and t-2nd overall was Cassidy Miksich with a two-day total of 163 (81-82). Miksich posted birdies on both athe first and ninth holes and finished with five pars on her day.

Finishing in third for Alvernia and t-10th overall was Rylee Stenzel with a two-day total of 175 (89-86). Stenzel improved with three strokes from Monday. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par 4 5th hole, and she finished with eight pars on her day.

In fourth for Alvernia and in 15th overall was Grace Spielman with a two-day total of 182 (94-88). Spielman posted Alvernia's largest improvement from round one to round two, shaving six strokes off. She finished with three pars and a birdie on her day.

Paige Damon finished as Alvernia's fifth with a two-day total of 195 (100-95) to finish in 23rd overall. Damon finished with five pars - four of which came on the back nine.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday for day one of the two-day York Invitational. It is Alvernia's final competition of the fall season.
