Boreman and Miksich Lead Alvernia at York’s Fall Invite

Mount Wolf, Pa (October 21, 2023) - McKylie Boreman and Cassidy Miksich fired scores of 76 and 77 respectively as Alvernia University sits in second place after day one of the York College Fall Invite at Royal Manchester Golf Club Saturday afternoon. 

The Golden Wolves sit in second place with a day one total of 316, just one stroke behind leaders Christopher Newport and just two strokes ahead of third place Randolph Macon. 

Boreman fired the lowest score of the day for the Golden Wolves with a four over 76 and sits in second place, just two strokes behind the leaders. Boreman carded a bogey on the first hole but immediately bounced back with a birdie on the par three second before ripping off five straight pars. A bogey at the eighth and a par on the par five ninth saw Boreman post a one over, 37 on the front nine. Boreman started her back nine with another bogey but followed that up with four straight pars and her second birdie of the day on the par four 13th to get back to even par on the back nine. Boreman recorded par on the next two holes but a bogey, double bogey finish saw her card a three over 39 on the back and a 76 overall. 

Miksich fired the next best score of the day for the Golden Wolves with a five over, 77 in round one and currently sits in third place. Miksich tallied two pars and a bogey in her first three holes but bounced back with a birdie at the par four fourth. Miksich carded another bogey on the fifth hole but a par and another birdie saw her get back to even par through seven holes but a bogey at the eighth saw her card a one over, 37 on the front nine. Miksich carded a double bogey on the tenth hole but responded with back to back pars on 11 and 12 and birdied the par four 13th but three bogeys in the final five holes saw Miksich post a four over 40 on the back nine and a 77 after the first 18 holes. 

Katie Lapinsky carded the third best score of the day for Alvernia with an eight over 80 in round one and currently sits in a tie for 12th place. Lapinksy carded two bogeys and a double bogey in her first five holes yet Lapinsky bounced back with three straight pars but a bogey at the ninth saw her post a five over, 41 on the front nine. Lapinksy carded another double on the far four tenth but responded with three straight pars before a bogey at the 14th halted the run. Lapinksy finished her round by carding four straight pars to post a three over 39 on the back and post an 80 in round one. 

Rylee Stenzel fired an 11 over 83 on day one for the Golden Wolves and currently sits in a tie for 16th place. Stenzel fired off three straight pars to start the day but a bogey, a double bogey and a triple on four, five and six saw her rise to six over par. Stenzel bounced back on the final three holes of the front nine to card a six over, 42 on the front. Stenzel pared the tenth hole after the turn but a bogey and a triple on the next two holes saw her drop back. Stenzel bounced back and tallied four pars and a birdie in the final six holes to card a five over 41 on the back and an 83 after 18. 

Grace Spielman recorded the fifth score for the Golden Wolves with a 92 and currently sits in a tie for 34rd place. Spielman carded par on the first hole but a double bogey on two and four straight bogeys halted Spielman's momentum. She responded with a par on the par four seventh but a bogey and a double on nine saw her card a nine over, 45 on the front. Spielman recorded only two pars on the back nine as bogeys riddled her second nine as she carded a 47 on the back and a 92 overall. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow when they head back to York  for day two of the York Fall Invite at Royal Manchester Golf Club.
