Golden Wolves Finish Third in Final Event of the Fall

Mount Wolf, Pa (October 22, 2023) - McKylie Boreman and Katie Lapinsky led Alvernia University to a third place team finish at the York College Fall Invite Sunday afternoon at Royal Manchester Golf Club. 

The Golden Wolves posted a day two score of 328 and card a two day total of 644. Alvernia finished just two strokes behind second place Christopher Newport and 11 strokes behind Lynchburg, who took home the team title with a score of 633. 

Boreman fired the lowest score of the day for the Golden Wolves after she posted a five over 77 on day two and finished in solo third place. Boreman started her day with a bogey on the 11th hole but responded with a par on the 12th but back to back bogeys on 13 and 14 put her at three over par through four holes. Boreman bounced back with pars on the final four holes of the back nine and extended that on the par four first to finish three over after her first nine holes of the day. Boreman then started to heat up on her second nine, after a par on the second she rattled off back to back birdies on three and four. Back to back bogeys halted the birdie fest but she bounced right back with a birdie on seven and another on nine to go under par on the front nine. Boreman carded a double bogey on the 11th, which was her final hole of the day to record a six over 42 on the back nine but a one under, 35 on the front nine thanks to four birdies saw her post a five over 77 and finish with a two day total of 153 (+9). Boreman wrapped up her fall season with top ten finishes in all five events that she played in and added top three finishes in four of the five events as well. 

Lapinsky carded the second best score for Alvernia on day two and posted a six over 78 and finished in eighth place. Lapinsky started her day on the tenth hole where she carded par but then tallied back to back bogeys on 11 and 12. Lapinksy responded with five pars in her next six holes to card a three over 39 on her first nine holes of the day. Lapinsky continued to post par on the first but a bogey on the second halted her run. She then ripped off four pars and a birdie on the par four fourth but a bogey and double bogey on eight and nine saw her card a three over 39 on the front nine and post a six over, 78 overall. Lapinksy finished with a two day total of 158 (+14). 

Cassidy Miksich carded an 86 on day two of the tournament and finished in 11th place. Miksich started with a par on the par four ninth but carded few bogeys and a triple bogey on the four holes. Miksich bounced back with a birdie on the par four 14th and two pars in the next four holes to card a 47 on the back nine. She carded another bogey on one but then ripped off six straight pars on the front nine but a double bogey six on her final hole of the day saw her card a three over 39 on the front and post an 86. Miksich posted a two day total of 163 (+19) and finished in solo 11th place. 

Rylee Stenzel posted the next best score for the Golden Wolves with an 87 and finished 17th place with a two day total of 170 (+26). Stenzel started on the eight hole and where she carded a bogey but she bounced back with a birdie on the par five ninth. Stenzel carded only three pars on the back nine as numerous bogeys and big numbers led to her carding a 49 on the back nine. Stenzel responded by ripping off six straight pars on one through six but a double on her final hole of the day saw her card a two over 38 on the front nine and finish with an 87. 

Grace Spielman posted a 96 on the second day of the tournament and finished with a two day total of 188 and finished in 40th place. Spielman carded a birdie four on the par five third and a par on the eighth but bogeys and big numbers led to a 53 on the front nine. Spielman tallied three pars on the back nine but bogeys led the way again to a 43 on the back nine and a 96 overall. 

Paige Damon played as an individual and carded a 100 on day two and finished in 45th place and a two day total of 196 after a 96 on day one. Damon carded three pars during her round on Sunday. 

The York College Fall Invite marks the end of the fall season for the Golden Wolves. Alvernia finished with team titles in five of the seven events they played in with a second place finish at Arcadia's Battle at Bulle Rock and today's third place finish at York. Both Lapinksy and Miksich tallied two wins in the fall and Stenzel recorded one win during the fall season as well.
