York, Pa. (Feb. 24, 2023) - After the first day of competition at the NCAA Division III Southeast Regional, Alvernia University sits in second place overall and has eight individuals advancing to day two of the championship at York College. 

Alvernia trails Stevens Institute of Technology by 12.5 points going into the final day of competition. 

Of Alvernia's eight individuals that advanced, six are still in the championship bracket.

Avery Leonard (141 lb), Jason Rezac (157 lb), Matthew Lackman (165 lb), Isaac Kassis (184 lb), Mauro Pellot-Vazquez (197 lb), and Palmer Rodenhaber (285 lb) are going into the semifinals tomorrow without a loss. Anthony Portillo (133 lb) and Chance Babb (149 lb) are wrestling for a third place finish in the consolation bracket. 

Day two of the NCAA Southeast Regional will begin on Saturday at 11 AM at York College. In order to secure a trip to the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship, a wrestler needs to place in the top three.
