Alvernia Takes Third at York's Spartan Invitational

York, Pa. (April 17, 2023) - Alvernia University Women's Golf closed out day two of the York College Spartan Invitational with a third place finish in the field of six schools on Monday afternoon at Regents Glenn in York, Pa.

On a day that saw colder and windier conditions compared to the opening day of action on Sunday, each team saw at least a ten stroke increase in scoring. Alvernia finished with a two-day total of 664, finishing 14 strokes behind first place York.

McKylie Boreman led Alvernia with a fourth place finish, finishing nine strokes off of Stevenson's Casey Oppenheimer, home took home low-medalist.

Boreman's day started with a double on the par four 11th, but she found her footing with back-to-back pars on 12 and 13. She gave another one back on the 14th before carding her first birdie of the afternoon on the par four 15th. She would make the turn at 5-over before carding two more pars on the 1st and 2nd holes. After back-to-back bogeys on the 3rd and 4th holes, she made her second birdie of the day on the par four 5th. She then went par-bogey-bogey-par to close out her front nine. She then closed out her round with a bogey on the 10th to finish with an 81 on the afternoon and a fourth place finish with a 156 between both days of action.

Finishing in second for Alvernia and 6th overall was Katie Lapinksy with a two-day total of 158. Lapinsky shot an 82 on day two. She started her day with a par on the par 4 11th. After playing holes 12-15 at 5-over, Lapinsky carded a birdie on the par five 16th, and closed out the back nine with a birdie on the par four 18th. She then posted four pars on the front nine to finish day two with an 82.

Rylee Stenzel finished in third for Alvernia and t-13th overall with a two-day total of 167. Stenzel shot an 86 on day two, and her round was highlighted by six pars - including a string of three straight to start off her day.

Grace Spielman rounded out Alvernia's counting scores with a 25th place finish and two-day score of 183. Spielman fired a 94 on day two with six pars on her round.

Autumn Wolf finished in 34th overall with a two-day total of 207. Wolf shot a 109 on day two with two pars.

Alvernia's regular season is now complete. The Golden Wolves will compete at the 2023 MAC Women's Golf Championship at Golden Oaks Golf Club beginning on April 29.
