Alvernia Opens Spring Season at First Day of MAC Preview

Frederick, Md. (April 2, 2023) - Alvernia University trails Hood College by nine strokes following the first day of competition on Sunday at the MAC Preview hosted by Hood at The Club at PB Dye.

The Golden Wolves shot a team-score of 330, as the Blazer sit at 321. Eastern College, the third and final team in the tournament, are in the middle of the pack at 326.

Dylan Byers led Alvernia's showing on day one with a round of 80 to sit at t-third place overall. Byers finished with two birdies on the afternoon, both on par fives. He fired a four on the par five 7th, and also fired a four on the par five 17th.

Luke Fagley shot one back of Byers with a round of 81. Jack Lynam shot an 84, and Jackson Hoovler, making his Alvernia debut, fired an 85. Cebular, playing as an individual, shot an 86 and Owen Wisner shot a 90.

Only two golfers, both from Hood, shot sub-80 during the first day of competition.

The second and final day of competition gets underway tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.
