Golden Wolves In Third Place After Round One

Ijamsville, Md (April 22, 2023) - Luke Fagley fired a five over 77 as Alvernia University sits in third place after day one of the MAC Men's Golf Championships Saturday at P.B. Dye Golf Club. 

Fagley carded four pars in his first six holes before birdying the par five seventh but a double bogey on the ninth saw him card a three over 39 on the front nine. Fagley went par, bogey on 10 and 11 before eagling the par five 12th. Fagley carded par on three of his final six holes for a two over 38 on the back nine. Fagley finished 39-38 for a five over 77 and sits in a tie for eighth place. 

Jack Lynam fired a seven over 79 on day one of the tournament and sits in a tie for 12th place with five other players, including two teammates. Lynam carded par on his first three holes before tallying two pars and two bogeys on his next four holes. Lynam then finished his front nine with a bogey- double bogey finish to card a five over 41 on the front. Lynam ripped off three pars but followed that with three straight bogeys before getting one back with a birdie on the par four 16th. He then carded par on his final two holes to fire a two over 38 on the back nine and finish round one with a 79. 

Jackson Hoovler also carded a seven over, 79 on the first day of the tournament and is tied for 12th place. Hoovler recorded five pars in his first nine holes but a four hole stretch of bogeys saw Hoovler card a four over 40 on the first nine. Hoovler then parred five of his next seven holes and birdied the par five 17th but a double on 18 saw him finish with a 39 on the back and a 79 overall. 

Tyler Cebular was the third member of the Alvernia team to fire a 79 and is also tied for 12th. Cebular fired five pars and four bogeys on the front nine, he then birdied the par four tenth and then parred the 11th before recording four straight bogeys. Cebular finished with three pars to end his round and card a three over 39 on the back and a 40 on the front for a 79. 

Dylan Byers finished day one of the tournament with an 89 and sits in a tie for 29th place. Byers tallied two pars and a birdie on the front nine but a few bogeys and doubles saw him card a 46 on the front nine. Byers then bounced back and recorded five pars on the back nine and for a seven over 43 and finished with an 89. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow for day two of the MAC Championships at P.B. Dye Golf Club hosted by Hood College.
