Day Two of MAC Championship Canceled, Alvernia Takes Second

Fleetwood, Pa. (April 30, 2023) - The second and final round of the MAC Women's Golf Championship was canceled about 90 minutes into the round on Sunday afternoon at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

Rain started to fall steadily as the first groups teed off at 9:30 AM. By 11:00 AM, greens and bunkers were taking on water when the horn sounded to bring the golfers back to the clubhouse.

Alvernia's first golfers were not set to go off until 11:18 AM.

With the cancellation of the final round, scores resort back to the first round. Alvernia took second place with a team score of 339. York won the championship with a team score of 325.

McKylie Boreman, Katie Lapinsky, and Rylee Stenzel took second team All-MAC honors with rounds of t-7th 81. Casey Oppenheimer (Stevenson) and Marin Dremock (Eastern) were co-golfers of the year with rounds of 74.

York will represent the MAC at the Division III National Championship at Mission Inn in Florida.
