Kutztown, Pa. (Sept. 14, 2023) - Alvernia University continued its great start to the 2023-24 season on Saturday, defeating Kutztown University 22 ½ to 4 ½ in the inaugural Pagoda Cup Match Play series at Berkleigh Golf Club.

The scoring was split between individual and team scoring, with three points available in each match (two individual points and one team point). 

The duo of Katie Lapinsky and Rylee Stenzel defeated the Kutztown pairing 1-up, and Stenzel also picked up an individual point for the Golden Wolves. Lapinsky fell to Grace Babinchak 2-up and Stenzel defeated Lexi Peet 7 & 5. 

McKylie Boreman and Grace Spielman paired up to defeat Alivia Miesowitz and Brooke Graham, 6 & 5. Boreman and Spielman also each picked up an individual point for Alvernia. Boreman won her individual match 7 & 6, and Spielman won her match 2-up.

Alvernia completed the team sweep with Cassidy Miksich and Paige Damon winning their match over Grace Klements and Rhiana Stutz 6 & 5. Miksich won her individual match 7 & 5, and Damon was narrowly edged out, 1-up.

Boreman played out her round to shoot a 71, and Stenzel fired off a 79. Damon also had three birdies en route to a round of 80.

Alvernia is back in action on Monday, September 25th at the Albright Invitational hosted at Schuylkill Country Club.
