Alvernia Takes First at Vulcan Invite

Boreman Finishes in Third for the Golden Wolves

Belle Vernon, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2023) - Alvernia University Women's Golf picked up a win in its first showing of the 2023-24 season as the Golden Wolves took first place in the two-day Vulcan Invitational hosted by California University of Pennsylvania at Cedarbrook Golf Club.

The Golden Wolves held a ten stroke lead going into the second and final round on Monday following a first round score of 315. Alvernia followed its 315 with a team score of 317 on Monday for a two-day total of 632. Alvernia finished 13 strokes ahead of 2nd-place West Chester in the field of ten teams.

McKylie Boreman led Alvernia with a final score of 156 to finish in third place overall. Boreman followed her round of 79 from Sunday with a 77 on Monday.  Boreman was 1-over on the front nine with six pars and a birdie on the par four 6th hole. Boreman then had five pars on the back nine for her round of 77.

Cassidy Miksich saw the most improvement from day one to day two for the Golden Wolves. Miksich posted an 81 on Sunday and followed that with a 76 on Monday for a two-day total of 157 and a t-4th finish. The first year was just 2-over on the front nine with a birdie on the 5th hole and five pars - including four straight before making the turn. She was 3-over on the back nine with seven pars. 

Katie Lapinsky finished in third for Alvernia and eight overall with a two-day total of 158. Lapinsky fired a 76 on Sunday followed by an 82 on Monday. Lapinsky posted matching 41s on the front and back nine en route to her round of 82. She finished the round with ten pars.

Finishing in fourth for Alvernia and t-10th overall was Rylee Stenzel with a two-day total of 161. Stenzel followed her Sunday round of 79 with an 82 on Monday. Stenzel posted a 40 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine. She finished her round with birdies on the 4th and 8th holes, and seven pars on the round.

Grace Spielman finished in fifth for Alvernia and t-32nd overall with a two-day total of 174. Spielman posted an 89 on Monday after a career-low 85 on Sunday. Spielman was 4-over on the front nine with a birdie on the 5th hole and four pars.

Cal's Keegan Selinsky took first place in a playoff with a two-day total of 155. 

Alvernia is back in action on Tuesday, September 12 at the Elizabethtown Invitational at Hershey CC.
