Alvernia Opens 2024-25 Season at Day One of Bud Whitman Invitational

New Castle, Del. (Oct. 12, 2024) - Alvernia University went 3-2 on the first day of the Chestnut Hill Bud Whitman Invitational as the Golden Wolves opened their 2024 season in New Castle, Delaware.

Alvernia picked up wins against LIU, Dominican, and Felician. The Golden Wolves dropped its games with Wilmington and Caldwell.

Alvernia started its day with a 973-796 win over Long Island University. The Golden Wolves had three bowlers roll a 200 or better, and Mia Siminitus posted the highest score of the game for the Golden Wolves with a 220.

Alvernia then fell to Wilmington, 937-855. Alvernia did not have a bowler break 200, but Mia Ament posted a 190 to lead Alvernia in the loss.

The Golden Wolves dropped their second of the day in a narrow 889-881 loss to Caldwell. Siminitus led the way with a 225 for Alvernia, but Caldwell edged the Golden Wolves by eight pins.

Alvernia bounced back with a 918-862 win over Dominican University. Ament posted a 236 to lead Alvernia in its fourth game of the day, and Morgan Dupont posted a 211 for her highest score of the day.

The Golden Wolves finished off the first day of competition with a 933-910 win over Felician. Ament posted back-to-back 236s to lead Alvernia in its final game of the day. Siminitus was second for Alvernia in game two with a 190.

Ament led Alvernia in her first collegiate day of competition with a total pinfall of 1,035 on day one.

Alvernia's 3-2 record has them in seventh place out of 15 teams going into Sunday's final day of competition.
