Alvernia in Sixth Through Day One of Kutzown Golden Bear Invitational

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 19, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Bowling went 4-1 on the first day of the Kutztown University Golden Bear Invite at Berks Lanes on Saturday.

The Golden Wolves started their day out with an 897-810 loss to Molloy before rattling off four straight wins to close out the first day in sixth place in the field of 12 teams.

Alvernia's first win of the day came with an 827-679 win over Adelphi in match two of the day. Alvernia then edged out Mercyhurst with a 929-921 win.

The Golden Wolves kept it rolling with an 816-700 win over Holy Family before closing out their day with an 885-839 win over Wagner.

Alvernia's total pinfall of 4,267 on day one puts Alvernia in sixth place heading into the second and final day on Sunday. The host Golden Bears are in first overall with a 5-0 record and 4,666 total pinfall on day one.

Mia Ament and Mia Siminitus were Alvernia's top-two bowlers of the day. Avent and Siminitus finished in 10th and 11th, respectively through the action on Saturday. Avent had a total pinfall of 929, and Siminitus finished with a total of 915. 

Alvernia is back at Berks Lanes tomorrow for four Baker matches to determine seeding for best-of-seven matches.
