Alvernia Takes Sixth at Golden Bear Invitational

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2024) - Alvernia University Women's Bowling took sixth place in the field of 12 teams at the Kutztown University Golden Bear Invitational on Sunday.

Alvernia was in sixth place heading into Sunday following a 4-1 performance on Saturday. Alvernia went 3-1 on Sunday in Baker Style match place to move-up to the fifth seed to take on Felician University in the best of seven match for fifth place. But, Felician bettered Alvernia, 4-2, to take fifth and put Alvernia in sixth place to conclude the tournament.

Alvernia started its day with a 993-918 win over Dominican University. Alvernia rolled a 235 in the final game of the match, and averaged a 198.6 across each  game of the match. It was Alvernia's highest game average of the tournament.

Alvernia then posted a 934-858 loss to Wilmington before bouncing back with an 867-807 win over Caldwell. 

The Golden Wolves closed out Baker play with an 894-817 win over Belmont Abbey to earn the fifth seed heading into the best-of-seven matches.

Alvernia faced Felician for the fifth place finish. The Golden Wolves dropped the first game of the match before winning two straight games to take the 2-1 match lead. But, Felician closed it out with three straight wins to take the match, 4-2.

Alvernia haas two weekends off before returning to action on November 9th at the Saint Vincent Pat LAcey Memorial Tournament.
