Smith Takes First, Alvernia Fifth at Saint Vincent

Latrobe, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2024) - Reaghan Smith took first place and Alvernia University took fifth place on Saturday at the Saint Vincent College Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament.

Alvernia went 2-3 on the day to take fifth place in the field of ten teams. Reaghan Smith took first place and MVP honors with 211 average across her five games and a total pinfall of 1,055. 

Alvernia started out the day with an 856-796 loss to Pitt Bradford. Smith scored a 179 in the loss, and Mia Ament scored a 169.

The Golden Wolves got into the win column with a 909-839 win over Ursuline in game two. Smith posted a team-high 220, and Mia Siminitus also broke 200 with a 201. 

Alvernia then fell to 1-2 on the day with a 930-893 loss to Saint Vincent. Smith again led Alvernia, this time with her highest score of the day at 230. Ament was second for the Golden Wolves with a 196.

Alvernia improved back to 2-2 with a 952-944 win over Penn State Behrend in the fourth match of the day. Smith had a 214 in the game, and Emily Huntley had a 194.

The Golden Wolves then faced Saint Vincent again in the final game of the day, and fell 903-766 to take fifth at the invitational. Smith scored over 200 for the fourth time with a 212.

Alvernia is back in action today at the LaRoche Unicorn Classic.
