Alvernia In Fifth After First AMCC Round Robin of the Season

Geneva, NY (Nov. 17, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Bowling picked up two wins on Sunday to finish first AMCC Round Robin of the season with a 3-4 record and a fifth place standing.

Alvernia picked up wins over La Roche and Hilbert College to improve to 3-4 on the weekend after a 1-3 start on Saturday. Results from this weekend's round robin will be combined with results from the second AMCC Round Robin in early February to determine who will compete in the AMCC Championship.

Alvernia started Sunday with a 962-861 loss to Saint Vincent in the Baker format match. Saint Vincent took a 245-160 lead in game one. Alvernia took game two, 181-171, and game five, 165-158, but could not catch the Bearcats.

The Golden Wolves picked up their first win of the day in commanding fashion with an 820-594 win over La Roche in match two. A 156-118 in game one, a 191-105 win in game three, and a 168-101 win in game four highlighted the match for Alvernia.

Alvernia then closed out the weekend with an 831-731 win over Hilbert. Alvernia got off to a good start with a 188-130 win over the Hawks to build up an early lead. Hilbert took game two, but Alvernia used a 133-80 to build up its lead once again. Hilbert took games four and five by a combined three pins as Alvernia took the match 831-731.

Saint Vincent went undefeated through the weekend and will be atop of the leaderboard heading into the second round robin in February.

This weekend's event marked Alvernia's final competition until the spring semester. The Golden Wolves will be back in action starting January 17 at the Division III Invitational in Elmhurst, Michigan.
