Stenzel Grabs Low Medalist Honors, Leads Golden Wolves to Team Title at Husky Invitational

Danville, Pa (April 18, 2024) - Rylee Stenzel fired a low round of 79 en route to low medalist honors and led Alvernia University to the team title at Bloomsburg's Husky Invitational at The Golf Course at Frosty Valley. 

The Golden Wolves finished with a total team score of 342 and edged West Chester by three strokes (345). 

Rylee Stenzel started her day on number ten and carded a bogey five before bouncing back with a par at the par five 11th. Stenzel then birdied the par three 12th before ripping off five straight pars but a bogey at the 18th saw her post a one over, 38 on the back nine. Stenzel carded a double one number one but bounced back with a par at the second and tallied five pars in her final seven holes to card a 41 on the front nine. Stenzel finished with a 41/39=79 on the day and took home low medalist honors. 

Katie Lapinsky started her day on the par three eighth and carded par on 8 and 9 as she headed to the tenth tee. Lapinsky bogeyed ten and 12 but she then pared 11 and 13 followed by a birdie at the par four 14th. Lapinsky recorded par at the par three 16th but bogeys at 17 and 18 saw her card a 41 on the back nine. Lapinksy then pared three of her first four holes and finished her final nine with pars at 6,7 and 9 to finish with a 39 on the front nine. Lapinksy finished with a 39/41=80 and finished in second place. 

Cassidy Miksich began her day on the ninth hole and carded a big number to start and a double at the tenth but responded with a par at the 11th. Miksich then carded a few bogeys and another big number before a par at the par three 16th and a birdie at 18 to card a 46 on the back nine. Miksich started her second nine with a par at the first and a bogey at the par four second. Miksich carded a bogey at the third and then tallied three straight pars but two doubles and a bogey saw her card a 44 on the front nine. Miksich finished with a 44/46=90 on the day and finished in a tie for 17th. 

Grace Spielman started her day on ten as well and recorded a triple and a bogey on 11 before a birdie at the par three 12th. Spielman then recorded two pars in her final four holes on the back nine. Bogeys plagued her first three holes on the front nine and continued on the back as she carded a 47 on the front nine. Spielman finished with a 47/46=93 and finished in a tie for 24th. 

Paige Damon started her day on number 11 with a bogey but bounced back with a par at the 12th. Damon then carded a few bogeys heading into the 18th where she made par. Damon then carded more big numbers on her first four holes on the front nine and finished with a 48 on the front nine. Damon finished with a 48/48=96 on the day and finished in 29th place. 

The Golden Wolves travel to Amherst on the weekend to compete in the Jack Leaman Invitational at Orchards Golf Club.
