Lapinsky Earns Low Medalist, Golden Wolves Take Team Title at Cardinal Classic

Hagerstown, Md. (April 7, 2024) - Junior Katie Lapinsky fired a day two 77 to lead Alvernia University to the team title at the Cardinal Classic as well as grab Low Medalist honors Sunday at Back Rock Golf Club. 

McKylie Boreman fired the lowest score of the day for Alvernia with a 76 and Cassidy Miksich also recorded a sub 80 round with a 78 to help lead the Golden Wolves to the team title. 

Lapinsky fired a five over 77 on day two en route to the low medalist honors and finished with a two day total of 157. Lapinsky started her day with back-to-back bogeys on one and two but bounced right back and recorded par on the final seven holes of her front nine to card a two over, 38 on the front nine. Lapinsky stayed on the par train on the back nine with pars on 10,11,12 and 13 before a bogey at the par five 14th and another at the 16th. Kapinsky carded par at the 17th but a bogey on 18 saw her move to three over on the back nine and post a 39. Lapinsky finished with a 38 on the front and a 39 on the back for a five over, 77. 

McKylie Boreman fired the low round of the day for Alvernia with a four over 76 and finished in a tie for third place with teammate Cassidy Miksich. Boreman started her day with three bogeys through the first four holes but got back on track and recorded four straight pars before a bogey at the ninth saw her card a four over 40 on the front. Boreman then birdied two of the first three holes on the back nine and carded three pars and two bogeys on holes 13-17 before a birdie on 18 saw her get back to even par on the back nine and fire a 36. Boreman finished with a 40 on the front and a 36 on the back for a 76 and finished with a two-day total of 162. 

Cassidy Miksich also fired a sub 80 round on day two for Alvernia with a six over, 78 and finished with a two day total of 162 and a tie for third. Miksich started with a double bogey but bounced back with three straight pars before another double at the fifth. She got back on the par train in her final four holes of the front nine to post a four over 40. Miksich recorded par on the tenth and then birdied the 11th before a bogey at 12 put her back at even par on the back. She then ripped off four pars in the final six holes but two bogeys saw her card a two over 38 on the back and a 78 on the day. 

Rylee Stenzel recorded a day two score of 86 and finished with a two day total of 172 and finished in 11th place. Stenzel carded just one par in her first five holes but responded with pars at six and eight before a bogey on nine saw her card a 44 on the front. Stenzel started her back nine with two pars in the first three holes. She then carded two pars in the final three holes for a 42 on the back nine and an 86 on the day. 

Grace Spielman recorded an 89 on day two of the tournament and finished with a two day total of 181 and finished in 16th place. Spielman recorded one par through the first four holes but then carded a par on the fifth and the eighth before recording a 46 on the front nine. Spielman bogeyed the tenth before a par at the 11th and the 14th and 15th. Spielman carded three straight bogeys to end her round and posted a 43 on the back for a day two score of 89. 

Paige Damon recorded a day two score of 88 and finished with a two day total of 192 and finished in a tie for 25th place. Damon started her day with a birdie four on the par five first but carded a bogey on the second and a big number on the third. Damon bounced back with another birdie at four and posted back to back pars on five and six.Two more big numbers on seven and eight and a bogey on nine saw Damon post a 44 on the front nine. She then tallied three pars in her first four holes on the back nine but three bogeys over the next four holes and a seven on 18 saw her post a 44 on the back for a total of 88. 

Autumn Wolf rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves with a day two score of 95, a two day total of 202 and finished in a tie for 30th place. Wolf carded just one par on the front nine and recorded a 48 on the front. Wolf also carded one par on the back nine which came on the 16th and posted a 47 on the back for a total of 95. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action next Saturday for the MAC Preview at Golden Oaks Golf Club.
