Alvernia Posts 306, Takes 20 Stroke Lead Into Final Round

Boreman Posts Even Par to Sit in First

Fleetwood, Pa. (May 4, 2024) - All four of Alvernia's counting scores were in the 70s on Saturday as the Golden Wolves posted a team score of 306 to set a new program record and take a 20 stroke lead going into the final day of the 2024 MAC Women's Golf Championship at Golden Oaks Golf Club.

McKylie Boreman led the way for Alvernia and sits atop of the leaderboard with an even par round of 72. Katie Lapinsky is in a tie for second with a round of 5-over 77. Cassidy Misksich carded a 6-over 78, and Rylee Stenzel rounded out Alvernia's counting scores with a 7-over 79.

Alvernia posted a 306 and has a 20 stroke lead of York College, who posted a 326 to sit in second overall. Alvernia's 306 ties a MAC Championship record, which was set by York in the second round of the 2022 Championship.

Alvernia's 306 marks the second time this year that the Golden Wolves bettered their team record. Alvernia posted a 310 back in the fall, which, at the time, was a new program record.

McKylie Boreman got off to a fantastic start for Alvernia. She was 1-under through the first four holes following three pars and a birdie on the par four 2nd hole. She gave a stroke back with a bogey on the fifth, but moved back to 1-under with a birdie on the sixth. She then made the turn at 2-under with a birdie on the par three 9th. Boreman then played a nearly clean back nine. She carded seven pars and two bogeys to finish at an even 72.

Katie Lapinsky started her day off with a bogey on the first hole before settling in for four straight pars. She moved to 2-over with a bogey on the sixth, and made the turn at 2-over following three more pars. Lapinsky then moved to 1-over with a birdie on the par five 11th hole, before giving two strokes back with a double on the 12th. Lapinsky went 2-over the rest of the way to finish at a 5-over 77.

Cassidy Miksich was 1-over through the first three holes before carding a birdie on the par three fourth. She gave three strokes back on the next two holes before going 1-under on the final three holes of the back nine with back-to-back pars on seven and eight and a birdie on nine. Miksich then pared the 10th to start out her back nine, but had three bogeys over the course of the next five holes. She settled in for the final three holes of her round with a pars on the 16th and 18th for a round of 78.

Rylee Stenzel rounded out Alvernia's counting scores on day one. Stenzel was even through the first four holes with a birdie on the par four 3rd hole. After trouble on five and six, Stenzel pared the seventh and recorded Alvernia's third birdie of the day on the par three 9th. Stenzel recorded her third birdie of the day on the 12th and then went 2-over through her final six holes for her round of 79.

Grace Spielman finished as Alvernia's fifth for the day, recording a round of 90 to sit in 18th overall. Spielman finished with four pars on her round, including pars on 17 and 18 to close out the day.

Alvernia is back at Golden Oaks tomorrow looking to secure the MAC title. Alvernia will be in the last groupings going out just before noon.
