Jillian Laughman earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors for their performances during the 2024 season, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Thursday.
Bouchard earned First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors, and Laughman earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors.
Bouchard was 10-3 overall in the 2024 season as Alvernia's #1 singles player, and she went 4-1 in conference play. Bouchard's only conference loss during the regular season came to Albright's Alex Pancu - who was undefeated on the year. Eight of Bouchard's ten wins came in straight sets, and, in six of those wins, she allowed three or less set points. In doubles play, Bouchard went 7-6 overall with doubles partner Lily Summerson as Alvernia's #1 pair. The duo was 2-3 in conference play.
This is Bouchard's fourth All-MAC Commonwealth honor. She earned First Team honors the previous three years, and was also the 2021 Rookie of the Year. She is the first player for Alvernia to earn First Team All-MAC Commonwealth each of the four years in her career.
Jillian Laughman went 8-4 overall as Alvernia's #2 singles player, and she was 4-1 in conference play. All eight of Laughman's wins came in straight sets, and she shutout opponents three times. Laughman's only conference loss came to Albright's Michelle Timothy - and the match went deep into a third set tiebreaker. In doubles play, Laughman went 6-7 overall and 3-2 in conference play with partner Monica Nguyen at #2 doubles. This is Laughman's third All-MAC Commonwealth honor. She earned Second Team in 2023, and First Team in 2022.
Albright's Alex Pancu was named the Player of the Year, and Kiara Bomboy of Messiah was named Rookie of the Year. Albright's Miranda Brown was named Coach of the Year.
Alvernia finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 4-9, and was 3-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Golden Wolves made the MAC Commonwealth tournament as the #4 seed, but fell to Albright in the first round, 5-2. Albright went on to win the conference championship.
