Three Alvernia Student-Athletes Earn MAC Player of the Week Honors

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2025) - Three Alvernia University student-athletes earned MAC Player of the Week honors for their respective performances during the week of November 10 - November 18, 2025.

Robert Cottrell was named the MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Taryn Woodson was named the MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball Player of the Week, and Jeff Kreidler was named the MAC Men's Ice Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.

Robert Cottrell led Alvernia to a 2-1 week, scoring 77 total points - averaging 25.7 per game - 17 assists, and nine steals. He also went 31-for-32 from the free-throw line. His top performance of the week came in a 93-91 setback to #23 Montclair State. Cottrell erupted for 40 points and added five assists and five steals. He also scored 23 points in a win over PSU Abington and added 14 points and seven assists in limited time against PSU Berks. 

Taryn Woodson led Alvernia to a dominant 82-31 win over PSU Brandywine on Monday night. In just 15 minutes, Woodson recorded 13 points, one block, and one steal. She went 6-for-9 with seven rebounds during her brief time on the court. Her 13 point performance helped lead Alvernia to its largest margin of victory since 2015.

Jeff Kreidler picked up two wins in goal for Alvernia in a weekend sweep of King's. He finished the weekend with 67 saves and a 2.00 goals against average, with two goals allowed coming on the King's power-play. In a 5-2 win on Friday, Kreidler made 33 saves, including 16 saves in the third period. In another 5-2 win on Saturday, Kreidler made 34 saves on the day.

Women's Basketball is back in action tonight hosting Ursinus at 6:00 PM. Men's Basketball returns to action tomorrow night with a 6:30 PM matchup at Kean University, and Men's Ice Hockey is back on the road this weekend with a Friday and Saturday series at Lebanon Valley.
