Hunter Becomes First Alvernia Women’s Wrestler to Compete at NCWWC Nationals

Coralville, Iowa (March 7, 2025) - Alvernia University first year Macenzie Hunter became the program's first wrestler to compete at the NCWWC National Championships Friday afternoon in Coralville, Iowa. 

This year's NCWWC National Championships will be the final one as the NCAA has announced that it will sponsor a Women's Wrestling National Championships in 2026. 

Hunter matched up against Alyssa Arana of Emmanuel University in the first match and fell to Arana by fall. Hunter bounced back and wrestled Wisconsin Stevens Point's Tabitha Breitrick in the consolation bracket, but fell to Breitrick by fall in 3:39. 

The NCWWC National Championship concludes tomorrow. Today marked the conclusion of Alvernia's 2024-25 season.
