Reading, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Track and Field sophomore Britney Anyia and Men's Basketball junior Elijah Hamilton were named Alvernia Athletes of the Week for their performances during the Week of January 19 - January 25, 2026. Britney Anyia posted a first and second place finish at this weekend's Franklin and Marshall Coach I Invitational. Anyia took first place in the high jump with a personal record mark of 1.60 meters, taking first place by 0.05 meters and coming just 0.03 meters shy of breaking a decade old Alvernia indoor record. That mark was also good for a top-50 mark in Division III. Anyia followed her high jump performance with a second place finish in the long jump with a personal-record mark of 5.34 meters. Both her high and long jump marks are qualifying marks for AARTFCs. 

Elijah Hamilton averaged 22 points and six rebounds in a 1-1 week for Alvernia. Hamilton shot 65% on the week from the floor, going 17-for-26 across two games. He also went 9-for-11 from the free throw line. In an 88-70 win over Messiah on Saturday, Hamilton shot 10-for-11 overall, finishing the game with 23 points. He went 2-for-2 from the line and was 1-for-1 on his single look from beyond the arc. In a setback to Hood on Wednesday, Hamilton tallied another 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds. He shot 7-for-15 and also had three steals. 

Women's Track and Field is back in action on Saturday at the Alvernia PLEX Shootout. Men's Basketball is back in action on Wednesday hosting Eastern for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
