Alvernia Bests King’s, 4-3

Wilkes Barre, Pa. (March 21, 2026) - Alvernia University (1-3) took down King's College (0-4), 4-3, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's tennis matchup at King's.

The Golden Wolves secured the doubles point after winning both the #1 and #2 doubles matches over the Monarchs. Luke Brisbois and Troy O'Malley took down Gavin Hall and Amir Samadian, 7-6, after taking the sixth set tiebreaker, 7-3.

Lucas Montello and Andrew Kao then sealed the doubles point for Alvernia with a 6-3 victory over Logan Tomkins and Timothy John in the #2 match.

The pairing of Duncan McDowell and Jordan Bosco dropped the #3 doubles match to Zackary Bedwell and William Savner to round out the doubles matches.

The Golden Wolves and the Monarchs halved the six singles matches making the doubles point all more important for the Golden Wolves.

Montello downed John, 6-1, 6-2, in the #1 singles match and Brisbois downed Hall in the #2 match, 6-0, 6-2, to grab a second point for the Golden Wolves.

Troy O'Malley grabbed the third singles point for the Golden Wolves with a 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 victory in the #4 singles match against Tompkins.

Kao fell to Samadian in the #3 singles match, McDowell fell in the #5 singles match and Jordan Bosco fell in the #6 match to wrap up the match for the Golden Wolves.

The Golden Wolves are back in action next Saturday when they host Messiah in a MAC Commonwealth matchup with the Falcons at 1:00 PM at the Mifflin Courts.
