Kelsey Racine were named Alvernia Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of March 30 - April 5, 2026. This week's Alvernia Athletes of the Week are presented by Visions Federal Credit Union.
Shawn Williams competed in two events for Alvernia this week to open the spring season. He took first place at Alvernia's home invitational on Tuesday, and followed that with a second place finish on Thursday at the Elizabethtown College Invitational. At Alvernia's LedgeRock on Tuesday, Williams posted a 1-under 71 to take low medalist honors by two strokes. His performance helped lead Alvernia to a first place team finish. Williams played LedgeRock's front nine at 1-under with three birdies. He then played the back nine at even par with a birdie on the 18th to secure his round of 71. At Hershey Country Club on Thursday, Williams played the front nine at 1-over with two birdies and five pars. He closed out his round with a 3-over on the back nine with six pars to finish in second place with his round of 4-over 75.
Kelsey Racine posted a 0.58 ERA through 12 innings pitched this week. Racine finished the week with a 1-1 record, scattering nine hits allowed across two games and allowing just one run during the week. In a 9-0 shutout win over Hood on Saturday, Racine allowed just two hits. She gave up two walks and struck out two without allowing a run. In a 1-0 setback to Moravain on Thursday, Racine went the distance and allowed just one run and seven hits.
Men's Golf is back in action this weekend at the Salisbury University Invitational. Softball returns to the field on Saturday hosting Eastern in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader.
