La Crosse, Wis. (May 17, 2026) - Alvernia University Men's Track and Field first year Trip Freitag has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium in La Crosse Wisconsin.

Freitag qualified for this year's championship in the javelin. His mark of 61.70 meters, which is an Alvernia program record, at the 2026 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship earlier this month ranks him 18th in Division III this outdoor season. The top-22 marks in the country qualify for the championship.

Freitag is just the third male Alvernia Track and Field athlete to qualify for a trip to an NCAA National Championship. He joins Hunter Guenzel (javelin, 2021) and Ricky Bruno (200m, 2013).

Freitag will represent Alvernia on Saturday, May 23. Javelin will get underway at 11:00 AM (CT)/ 12:00 PM (ET).
