Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored her second hat trick in as many games as Alvernia College defeated the College of Notre Dame 11-0 Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action at Alvernia.
The Crusaders (12-3, 8-0 PAC) scored five times in the opening 10 minutes and cruised to their eighth straight conference win. Lynch netted the first two goals in the fourth and fifth minutes and completed the hat trick 13 minutes into the second half.
Alvernia also got first-half goals from
Christy Miller (Alburtis, Pa./Brandywine Heights),
Lauren Yoder (Fleetwood, Pa./Oley Valley),
Leslie Michael (Zionsville, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic),
Lynsey Treadwell (Farmingdale, N.J./Howell), and
Kaitlin Prutzman (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) for a 7-0 lead at the halftime break.
Lynch opened the second half scoring and following a goal from freshman
Christy Yousaitis (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson), Treadwell and Prutzman each scored their second of the game to close the scoring.
Alvernia junior
Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) needed a pair of second-half saves to notch her third straight shutout and sixth overall this season.
Alvernia will host Juniata College on Tuesday in a non-conference game before wrapping up the conference schedule with Rosemont and Marywood.
