Freshman Amy Mesce Scores Alvernia's Lone Goal

Reading, PA (Nov. 1, 2008) - Freshman Amy Mesce (Pittstown, NJ/Del.Val.Reg.) scored Alvernia's only goal in the 56th minute of play as the Crusader's fell to visiting Manhattanville College (10-9, 5-3 Freedom) by a score of 4-1 this afternoon at Sovereign Sports Park in Freedom Conference action.  With the loss, Alvernia ends their season at 6-13, 1-7 Freedom.

The Valiants scored quickly in the 6th minute when Holly Nonis connected for her seventh goal of the season thanks to a perfect cross from Cybil Robinson that she managed to shoot low left past Alvernia's keeper.  Manhattanville would take the first half, 2-0 lead in the 45th minute when Brianne Despuches capitalized on some sloppy play by Alvernia and found the back of the net.

Mesce opened the second half with her sixth goal of the season to cut Alvernia's deficit in half, but the Valiants would add two late goals for the 4-1 win.
