Tom Novak (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and freshman
Jeff Bohler (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) scored four goals apiece to lead Alvernia College to a 15-9 win over Misericordia University Wednesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.
Bohler opened the scoring with a goal three minutes into play and Alvernia held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter after
Damian Bartman (New Berlinville, Pa./St. Pius X) scored with 24 seconds left in the frame.
Junior defender
Bill Bernheisel (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) scored one-handed while falling down to open the second quarter and the Crusaders (1-3, 1-0 PAC) scored eight times in the quarter to open up a 10-4 lead at the halftime break. Bohler added two of his four goals during the second quarter and Novak started a streak of three straight to end the quarter with his first of the day at 2:24.
Novak and Bohler both scored a goal in the third as the Crusaders pushed the lead to 12-5 and Novak added two more in the fourth quarter.
Freshman goalie
Matt Boulton (Broadlands, Va./Briar Woods) made 11 saves in net for the Crusaders to earn his first win. Misericordia got a team-high three goals each from
Kevin Malkin (Highland Lakes, N.J./Vernon Twp.) and
Jameson Landgraf-Kimball (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and 15 saves from freshman
Bill Hack (Warrington, Pa./CB South).
Alvernia will host Mahnattanville in a non-conference game this Saturday.
