Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) in the 27th minute and the offense tallied twice more in a 90 second span to lead Alvernia College (1-0) to a 3-0 win over Polytechnic University (0-1) Friday afternoon in day one action of the Cabrini College Men's Soccer Festival.
Rutherford set up freshman
Domenic Montone (Elkins Park, Pa./Abington) for his first career goal on a header in the 78th minute and Davidheiser closed the scoring on a penalty kick in the 80th minute. Alvernia will face the host Cavaliers (1-0), 7-0 winners over Waynesburg, Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the championship game.
Alvernia dominated its first game of the season outshooting Polytechnic 36-3 and earning eight corner kicks to none for the Blue Jays. The Crusaders put the ball on goal just 10 times with Polytechnic keeper Volkan Turgut turning away seven. Alvernia senior

Rutherford, who hasn't played for the Crusaders since his freshman year recorded his fourth career goal and second game-winner. In a series of firsts, head coach

Alvernia will wrap up the Cabrini Soccer Festival tomorrow and travel to Rutgers-Camden next weekend to play in the Cialella Classic.
