Reading, PA (Aug. 30, 2008) - Stevenson University won the second game of the Crusader Cup with a 5-0 victory over Shenandoah this afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field. Stevenson controlled most of the game firing off 35 shots to Shenandoah's three.
Stevenson netted their first goal of the day nine minutes into the game when
Tonia Cristino let a shot off that made it into the net just inside the right post. They would strike for two more goals in the first half when
Samantha Novy snuck one past the goalie on the far post in the 26th minute, and in the 33rd minute when
Jess Celmer netted her first goal of the season off a corner kick.
The second half saw Shenandoah hold Stevenson scoreless with the help of 15 saves including a gem from Kat Terza that saw her lay out five feet to redirect what would have been a sure goal. Stevenson finally connected for their final two goals of the game in the 81st and 87th minute.
With the win, Stevenson will face host Alvernia College in the Championship game tomorrow at 2:00 pm, and Shenandoah will meet up with Chatham University for the Consolation game.
