Eby Saves Eight For Crusaders

BOX SCORE

Montclair, N.J. (Nov. 14, 2009) - Eighth-seeded Hartwick College (13-7) got a pair of goals each from two different players in a 4-0 win over #4 Alvernia University (12-9) in semifinal action of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Field Hockey Championship at Montclair State University.

Hartwick will face the host Red Hawks in Sunday's final.  MSU will be looking for its third ECAC title in the last four years.  Hartwick won a pair of titles in the mid-90s.

In Saturday's semifinal the Hawks got on the board in the 11th minute on the first of two first-half goals from Jen Kaye.  She tallied the second, her ninth of the season, 14 minutes later prompting a timeout from the Crusaders, who managed just three shots on the night--all in the first half.

Kaye set up Brittany Baughman for the third goal of the game in the 50th minute and Baughman made it 4-0 with her second goal just over two minutes later.

Alvernia sophomore Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) made eight saves for the Crusaders.

Alvernia was making its second appearance in the ECAC Championship.  The Crusaders finished as the runner-up in 2004 losing to eighth-seeded Lebanon Valley College in the final.
