Alvernia Up To 3-0 With 18-3 Win At LBC

Lancaster, Pa. (Mar. 11, 2009) - Alvernia University (3-0) kept the winning streak going with the first 10 goals of the first half and the first eight of the second half in an 18-3 win over Lancaster Bible College (0-2) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at LBC.

Alvernia freshman Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) opened the scoring and Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Bayard Rustin) scored her first of a game-high give goals.  Five other players scored for the Crusaders as they jumped out to a 10-0 lead before LBC got on the board with the final goal of the half.

Freshman Megan Corrigan (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) scored the opening goal of the second half and the Crusaders cruised to the victory.

Freshman goalie Jennifer Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa.) made seven saves in net to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Alvernia will host The Sage College on Friday afternoon in its home opener at Sovereign Bank Sports Park at 4:00 p.m.
