Reading, Pa. (March 13, 2009) - Alvernia University senior
Richard Kessler (Reading, Pa./Reading) has signed on to play with the newly formed FC Reading Revolution Men's Soccer Team. Kessler joins the Revolution after finishing his Crusader career as the career leader in saves with 353, shutouts with 15 and goals against average (1.58).
The 2009 FC Reading Revolution team will play in the NPSL Northern Region's Keystone Conference.
This highly competitive league will include, but is not limited to National Team, former and current University and College, foreign, amateur, former professional and youth players. The FC Revolution will be coached by Mike Moyer who was recently inducted into the Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, and has coached at almost every domestic level, including two stints in United States Olympic Festivals. The FC Revolution will play its home games at Albright College's recently renovated Shirk Stadium, in Reading. The home opener will be on Saturday, May 16 vs. Buffalo City FC at 7:00 pm. Gates will open at 6:00 pm.
Kessler led Alvernia to three Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Playoffs and two championship game appearances. He was named to the All-PAC Second team in 2006, All-PAC First Team in 2007 and the Freedom First Team in 2008.
