Lycoming Tops Alvernia In MASCAC Action

Williamsport, Pa. (Mar. 21, 2009) - Alvernia University (2-4, 0-2) was limited to three goals in a 16-3 loss at Lycoming College (3-4, 1-1) Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action.

Alvernia junior Chris Baker (Exeter, Pa./Exeter) tallied an even strength goal for the Crusaders in the first quarter assisted by freshman Jon Lozoskie (Fallston, Md./Fallston).  Lozoskie finished with a goal and an assist scoring late in the fourth quarter, and Louis Vetrano (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) added a goal.

Lycoming jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Baker's goal and ran off 14 straight before the Crusaders tallied their final two.

Alvernia freshman Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) played 37 minutes and made eight saves.  Eric Jones (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) played 23 minutes and stopped six.

Alvernia will continue the conference schedule at Misericordia on Wednesday.
