Lycoming Doubles Up Women's Lacrosse

Sippel Scores Six To Lead Crusaders

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 19, 2009) - Sophomore Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) scored a team-high six goals raising her single-season record to 61, but Lycoming College (7-7, 5-3) scored 16 first-half goals en route to a 24-12 win over Alvernia University (8-7, 2-7) Sunday afternoon in Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action at Sovereign Bank Sports Park.

Sippel's second goal of the game kept the Crusaders close trailing 5-4 with 17:41 left in the opening half, but Lycoming scored 11 of the last 13 in the half for a commanding 16-7 lead at the break.

The Warriors scored the first three goals of the second half to build the lead to 12 and cruised the rest of the way.

Alvernia split time in net with Katie Bostwick (Linwood, Pa../Chichester) making nine saves.  Brittany Bryan stopped seven for Lycoming to earn the win.

Alvernia will continue the conference schedule at Arcadia on Wednesday.
