Five Crusaders Notch Hat Tricks In 21-6 Win Over Neumann

Alvernia Opens Season With Back-To-Back Wins

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 11, 2010) - Five different players recorded hat tricks for Alvernia University (2-0) in a 21-6 win over Neumann University Tuesday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.

The Crusaders got three goals apiece from Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin), Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert), Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run), Heather Coppola (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley), and Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood).  George added a game-high three assists to lead the way with six points for Alvernia.

George took the opening draw straight down the field and netted her first of the game at 29:51.  The Crusaders took a 7-2 lead on Coppola's second of the game at the 17:28 mark, and scored the last nine goals of the half for a commanding 17-4 lead at the break.

Alvernia finished with a 42-14 advantage in shots.  Victoria Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) and Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) played one half each and combined for four saves.  Kathleen Sinclair stopped 14 for the Knights.

Alvernia kicks off the conference schedule Saturday hosting Elizabethtown at 12:30 p.m.
