Scoring Spurts Lead Eastern Over Alvernia

Verrillo Scores Three For Crusaders

St. David's, Pa. (Mar. 20, 2010) - Eastern University (2-3, 2-0) put together scoring streaks of three or more goals on three occasions in a 15-7 win over Alvernia University (2-2, 0-2) Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Eastern.

Both teams exchanged goals over the first 14 minutes before Eastern broke the 2-2 tie with four straight goals including three from Grace Griffith, who finished the day with six.  Alvernia sophomore Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) netted the final goal of the half with 1:29 left for a 6-3 score at the break.

Eastern came out with three straight to start the second half before Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored her second of three on the day.  The Eagles answered that with three straight for a commanding 13-5 lead with 9:18 to play.

Alvernia freshman Vicky Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) stopped 10 in net for the Crusaders.

Alvernia is scheduled to play Cedar Crest on Monday in a make up game.
