Edwardsville, Pa. (Mar. 24, 2010) - Alvernia University (4-2, 1-2) continued to share the scoring load in a 16-5 win over Wilkes University (0-3, 0-3) Wednesday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Wilkes.

Freshman Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored five goals to lead the Crusaders.  She has now tallied three or more goals in five of her first six career games.  Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) each scored three for Alvernia.

The Crusaders scored the first four goals of the game and closed the first half with six straight goals for a 13-3 lead at the break.  They scored three straight to open the second half for a 16-3 lead before Wilkes scored two goals in the final six minutes to close the game.

Alvernia goalies Victoria Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Samford H. Calhoun) and Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) each played a half and combined to make nine saves.

Alvernia will continue the conference schedule hosting Manhattanville on Saturday.
