Manhattanville Tops Alvernia, 17-4

Lozoskie Scores A Pair For Crusaders

Purchase, N.Y. (Mar. 27, 2010) - Manhattanville College (3-4, 2-0) scored at least four goals in each quarter and handled Alvernia University (3-5, 0-2) by a 17-4 final Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at GoValiants.com field.

The Valiants run out to a 4-0 lead after one quarter.  The hosts rattled off 20 shots in the quarter, but Alvernia goalie Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.Y./Cranford) turned them away nine times to keep the Crusaders close.

Manhattanville scored the first four goals of the second quarter to take an 8-0 lead and Alvernia scored the last two goals of the quarter.  Senior Chris Baker (Exeter, Pa./Exeter) set up Robert Finnegan (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) for the first goal then tallied the second unassisted.

Manhattanville came out in the third with five goals for a 13-2 lead through three quarters and scored four straight in the fourth before Alvernia's Jon Lozoskie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) scored the final two goals of the game.

Shupp finished with 19 saves for the Crusaders.

Alvernia will continue the conference schedule hosting FDU on Thursday.
